On the 14 August 1941, Beaufighter T4652 flown solo by Sergeant Jenkins was detailed to carry out landings, and to practice steep turns and single engine flying at 6000 feet or above. The aircraft crashed one mile north east of Gransmoor, Yorkshire, near Bridlington. The cause of the accident was due to an engine becoming detached in flight causing the aircraft to dive and hit the ground.
