At 0845 hours on 12 April 1943 Beaufort A9-266 crashed at Cabbage Tree Creek, Jervis Bay. The aircraft apparently slipped in while turning low over trees on an approach to attack a stationery target (torpedo camera attacks) and Sergeant Jackson was killed in the crash.
