On 20 December 1942, Miles Magister L5975 was detailed to do aerobatics and spinning above 2,000 feet and within 10 miles radius of Upavon airfield. The aircraft crashed two miles west of Newbury, Berkshire, and the two crew members were killed. The aircraft dived into the ground during aerobatics at a comparatively low altitude.
