At about 2200 hours on 21 September 1940, Leading Aircraftman Holder, a Trainee Pilot, was struck by a truck while he was walking along the road leading to the camp along with two other airmen. He was admitted to the Dubbo District Hospital dangerously injured and died on 22 September 1940.
