At 2248 hours on 12 July 1943 Lancaster ED919 took off from Warboys to carry out a bombing attack on Turin, Italy. Nothing further was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it did not return to base. In 1948 it was reported that no trace could be found of the missing crew who were recorded as having no known graves.
