On the night of 5/6th January 1944, Lancaster ND416 took off from Elsham Wolds detailed to bomb Stettin, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. ND416 was believed to have crashed at Pasewalk, a large town 36 kms west north west of Stettin and all the crew members were killed.
