At 1552 hours on the night of 5December 1944 Lancaster PD322 took off from Spilsby detailed to bomb Giessen, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed with four of the crew members killed and three taken as Prisoners of War.
