Henri HEEMEME
Henri Heememe was a French orphan “adopted” by members of No. 4 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps. In 1919, aged about 10, he was smuggled to Australia by members of the Squadron and raised in Jandowae, Queensland, by Air Mechanic Timothy William Tovell (2198). He later moved to Melbourne and was employed in a civilian capacity at RAAF Station Laverton. He was in the process of enlisting in the RAAF when he was fatally injured in a motor cycle accident on 24 May 1928.
