Squadron Leader Harman was a member of No 1 Squadron Australian Flying Corps in World War I and was awarded the Mentioned in Despatches (MID).

On 2 May 1943, Squadron Leader Harman, an Equipment Officer, died of an illness at No. 6 RAAF Hospital, Heidelberg. He was a RAAF Liaison with the Contracts Board.
