On 31 July 1945 Leading Aircraftman Guerin, a Flight Mechanic, died of wounds at 12105Z hours. He was accidentally shot by a sentry on duty while working at No. 82 Wing stores dump about 15 kms north of Balikpapan. He was at the dump to unload Army vehicles transporting equipment from the wharf.
