Leading Aircraftman Greenaway, a Driver Motor Transport, was on duty on 5 November 1943, in charge of a squadron tender transporting members returning from stand down leave. He tried to start the engine by clearing a blockage in the petrol circulating pipe when the petrol ignited. He was dangerously injured and died on 7 November 1943.
