When returning from an operational sortie over the Arakan, Hurricane HW265 crashed near Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh, at 0430 hours on 19 September 1943. When the aircraft was landing one of the landing wheels burst and the aircraft overturned and Pilot Officer Gray was admitted to hospital but he died later on the same day.
