At 1000 hours on 28 November 1943, Harvard FE765 crashed near Edenvale, Ontario (3 miles north of the Camp Borden aerodrome). Control was lost during unauthorized low level aerobatics, and the aircraft struck the ground in a near vertical bank. Instructor Flying Officer Gore was killed instantly and student Leading Aircraftman Richard Herrick Myers (1809379) (RAFVR) (from the US) died several hours after the accident. Local farmer Mr L Atkinson was recommended for the George Medal for pulling Meyers from the burning wreckage.
