On 26 April 1945 Liberator KH338 took off from Tain to carry out an anti-U boat patrol in the Skaggerak area. The aircraft did not return to base and nothing further was heard of the aircraft or crew. In 1949 it was presumed that the aircraft and crew members were lost at sea.
