On 17 June 1942, Kittyhawk AK934 flown by Sergeant Glancy was one of six aircraft acting a top cover to light bombers whose target was in the El Duda – El Adem area. While over the target the formation was attacked by four ME109s and in the general dogfight which ensued one Kittyhawk presumed to be AK934 was seen to hit the ground and burst into flames. AK934 failed to return from the mission and Sergeant Glancy was missing.
