At 0905 hours on 11 January 1943 Spitfire BS500 of No. 69 Squadron took off on an operational flight and failed to return to base. It was assumed that the aircraft crashed into the sea about 30 miles north east of Malta. In 1948 it was concluded that Flying Officer Frazer had lost his life at sea.
