On 24 October 1916, Second Lieutenant Foreman resigned from the Australian Army and accepted a Commission in the British Army.

Taking off on a reconnaissance patrol on 14 July 1917, Secord Lieutenant Foreman and Second Lieutenant Arthur Andrew Creasey RFC, flying FE2b aircraft A861, were killed when the engine failed at about 400 feet and the aircraft nose-dived into the ground.
