On 20 October 1945, Leading Aircraftman Firman, a General Hand, sustained severe burns, when he tripped over a fuel line from a petrol container to a burner, causing the petrol container to capsize and spill petrol on him. The petrol in close proximity to the burner ignited and in turn ignited the petrol spilt on Leading Aircraftman Firman. He died from his injuries on 21 October 1945.
