At about 1100 hours on 26 June 1945, Sergeant Fenton, a General Hand, was shot by a Japanese sniper at Labuan, Borneo, and killed. Sergeant Fenton was a member of a party in search of timber for the building of hospital wards on the west side of the airstrip.
