On 14April 1945, Aircraftman Class I Ellis, a Wireless Assistant/Trainee Technician, was admitted to the Broken Hill District Hospital suffering from Spinal Meningitis. He was transferred to No. 121 Australian General Hospital, Adelaide, and died on 13 May 1945.
