Cousin of Sergeant Maurice Ben Remfry (402672)

At 2259 hours on the night of 1 June 1942, Wellington HX375 took off from RAF Station Graveley carrying 600 gallons of fuel and armed with a 500 lb (220 kg) bomb and 6 Small Bomb Containers, each holding 90 x 4 lb (2 kg) incendiaries. The aircraft was detailed to bomb Essen, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed about 0130 hours near Antwerpen, and all the crew members were killed.
