On 17 May 1942, Sergeant Duggan, a Pilot, was killed in an aircraft accident when Airspeed Oxford aircraft L4603 and X7063 collided and crashed on approach to Bridleway Gate Airfield, Shropshire. The pilot of X7063, Sergeant Orville Norman Elwell (R/106525) (RCAF) (from Pittsburg, Texas, USA) was also killed.
