On 29th January1943, Hudson T9464 crashed at 0637 hours when taking off from Kaldadarnes aerodrome. The aircraft was detailed to carry out a night anti-submarine patrol. Flying Control said the aircraft took off in the normal manner. Eye witnesses stated that the both engines appeared to cut out immediately after take-off when the aircraft was at a height of about 150 feet. The aircraft crashed on the surface ice of a river finally coming to rest on the side of the river bank. Three of the crew members were killed and one was dangerously injured in the crash.
