On 17 March 1944, Martinet EM481 flown by Warrant Officer Douglas stalled on take-off and crashed south of the airfield at Winfield, Berwickshire. He was severely injured and died the following day. Leading Aircraftman John William Bainbridge (1203032) (RAFVR) (Supernumerary) was killed in the accident.
