At about 1000 hours on 4 February 1942, Tiger Moths T5486 and T5463 collided in full flight and crashed, one mile west of Cressy, Tasmania, and three of the four crew members were killed. The crew in T5486 were carrying out Instructors practice flying and Leading Aircraftman Hurley in T5463 was receiving dual instruction.
