On 13 March 1943, Leading Aircraftman Crossman, a trainee Observer, was admitted to Mt Gambier Hospital, following an operation for an infected mastoid of the ear. He was transferred to the RAAF Wing Royal Adelaide Hospital on 22 March dangerously ill, and died of cavernous Sinus Thrombosis at 1730 hours on 30 March 1943.
