On 9 November 1917, Second Lieutenant Cragg (Pilot) was killed when DH4 aircraft A7543 nose-dived from 100 feet onto the beach at Le Crotoy. The aircraft had been involved in a forced landing at Compiegne on the previous day. Second Lieutenant Gerald Dixon RFC (Observer) was injured in the crash at Le Crotoy.
