At 0315 hours on the 25 April 1944, Oxford LW825 crashed near Windrush satellite airfield while practicing non-operational night circuits and landings. The aircraft was making a low approach when it struck trees and dived into the ground. Flight Sergeant Cormack who was flying solo died of his injuries later in the day.
