About 0900 hours on 21 August 1944, Aircraftman Class I Chamberlain, a Technical Trainee, was riding a motor cycle returning from unit leave. He collided with a motor truck driven by a civilian at the intersection of Payneham road and Lower North Road, Hectorville. He died of his injuries on the same day.
