At 2257 hours on 22 June 1944 Lancaster LM592 took off from RAF Dunholme Lodge to bomb Wesseling, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. It was later established that the aircraft was intercepted by a night fighter over Holland when outbound, and crashed between Riethoven in Noord-Brabant and the nearby town of Valkenswaard. All the crew members were killed.
