Lieutenant Brasell was flying the only B.E.12.a (1) (a newly-arrived machine) in the squadron, in escort of a reconnaissance patrol near Tel el Sheria, when he was attacked by three Fokker scouts, shot through the head, and fell inside the enemy’s lines.

Lieutenant Brasell’s death was advised in a message dropped behind allied lines by an enemy aircraft.
