At about 2200 hours On 7 September 1942, Anson W2373 flown solo by Leading Aircraftman Brady had just taken off from Mallala prior to doing a night cross country flight and had climbed to about 600 feet when the aircraft commenced to turn. Immediately after, the aircraft was seen to be in difficulties, and eventually crashed to the ground killing Leading Aircraftman Brady.
