On 22 April 1943, Sergeant Boyd, a Pilot, was reported missing in Kittyhawk A29-40 in the vicinity of Proserpine, Queensland. The aircraft was on a ferry flight from Wagga to No. 75 Squadron at Milne Bay in Papua New Guinea.
