On 30 January 1944, Flight Sergeant Bond, a Fitter Armourer, was admitted to No. 4 RAAF Hospital, seriously ill with pulmonary tuberculosis. On 27 August 1944 he was transferred to No. 115 (Heidelberg) Military Hospital dangerously ill and he died at 0630 hours on 19 March 1945.
