At 0845 hours on 23 April 1943, Wirraway A20-582 crashed seven miles north of Marrar, New South Wales, near Mumale Bale homestead and Leading Aircraftman Bloom was killed during a solo cross country low level flight.   The aircraft hit some trees and crashed, burning on impact.
