Flying Officer Binning survived the crash of Wirraway A20-469 at Narromine NSW on 5 September 1944 in which Flight Sergeant Charles Milton Hawdon (439761) was seriously injured.
At 0957 hours on 16 April 1945, Kittyhawk A29-71 flown by Flying Officer Binning crashed eight miles from Seaspray, Victoria, and he was killed. The aircraft was seen to do a half roll after a practice attack on a Beaufort aircraft at 8,000 feet, and then dive into the ground.
