At 2200 hours on 9 July 1942 Blenheim V6021 took off from Abu Sueir and immediately crashed. The Pilot was killed in the crash and the Observer who suffered severe burns was placed on the dangerously ill list but died on 10 July 1942. The Wireless Air Gunner suffered slight shock and was admitted to Station Sick Quarters.
