While on an offensive patrol on 10 November 1916, Sopwith Two Seater aircraft A885 broke-up in the air during aerial combat south-west of Bois D’Havrincourt.  Second Lieutenant Allport and Lieutenant Trevor Mountray Bennet MC RFC were reported missing.  Lieutenant Bennet’s remains were recovered and are buried in the Hermies Hill British Cemetery Pas-de-Calais, France.
