LEST WE FORGET

Air Operations: (No. 462 Squadron Halifax aircraft BB417), Mediterranean, 12 October 1943

Halifax BB417 took off from RAF Terria on the night of 11/12th October 1943 detailed as flare dropper for an attack on Maritza aerodrome. Eight aircraft from the Squadron took part in the raid and of these BB412 and BB417 failed to return. It was believed that BB417 crashed into the sea.

Flight Sergeant Michael Frank Hall (1190798) (RAFVR) (Pilot)
Flight Sergeant Gordon Frederick William Lawrence (1218515) (RAFVR) (Flight Engineer)
Warrant Officer Frank Raymond Vincent Nello (R/97524) (RCAF) (Observer)

All the crew members were killed and they are buried in the Alamein Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
