LEST WE FORGET

Air Operations: (No. 460 Squadron Lancaster aircraft LL907), France, 7 July 1944

Lancaster LL907 was tasked to support the Normandy landings at Caen, France. The aircraft collided with No. 103 Squadron Lancaster LM124 over the target area, but both aircraft returned saeely  to their bases.  As a result of the collision, Flight Sergeant Bertuch and Sergeant Lemmon both baled out – Bertuch was captured and Lemmon may have died during the descent or perhaps soon after capture.
