After completing its bomb dive on 23 February 1944, Kittyhawk FX542 flown by Warrant Officer Wilson suffered an engine failure and could not be restarted. He was forced to bale out and landed in the sea about 300 yards from Drvenik Island, a German occupied island. Later searches could find no trace of Warrant Officer Wilson or the aircraft.
