At 2348 hours on 22 April 1943 Whitley N1374 took off from RAF Station Abington detailed to carry out a night training exercise. The aircraft was reported to have stalled at 500 feet and crashed at 2350 hours a mile north west of Longworth, and 8 miles north north west of Wantage, Berkshire. All the crew members were killed.
