At 1530 hours on 22 June 1943 Marauder FK129 of RAF Transport Command crashed at sea 35 miles west of Borinquen, and 15 miles north west of Deschow Island, Puerto Rico. Searches were made over many days but no trace of the missing crew or items of equipment was found, but an oil slick was reported. In 1949 it was recorded that the missing crew had lost their lives at sea.
