On Sunday 6 December, the Aviation Heritage Museum opened its doors and welcomed families to its Family Day of 2020.

A terrific success, the day was action-packed with families taking part in open aircraft experiences, including the recently established Young Aviators phase one Young Aviators area.

“It was great to see so many families come along and experience the thrill and excitement of the Museum and all it has to offer,” said Museum Manager Trevor Fettis.

“We are in the process of creating interactive and engaging displays that children and adults of all ages can enjoy, and to see everyone taking part and benefiting from these activities and the Museum is just wonderful”.

Close to 330 visitors attended the Family Day across both morning (9.30am – 12.30pm) and afternoon (1pm – 4pm) sessions.

Some 30 Museum Volunteers were also at the ready, running open aircraft experiences and providing children and adults with interesting facts on more than 30 aircraft.

For those that didn’t get a chance to join in on the Family Fun, the Museum is hosting a number of activities and programs throughout the School Holidays, including the chance to jump in the cockpit of the Vampire or Huey. Visitors can also check out the inside of the Dakota C47 aircraft or make their very own model paper plane.
